Time / Place : 08/2009 – present / Germanylarge-scale migration project, targeted at moving the out-
sourced IT infrastructure and applications of the client's
complete investment process from the client's previous IT
service provider to FIDUCIA.
Analysis of the overall EAI system architecture and complex
communication relationships with the client's set of managed
services (application clusters) which implement the client's
complete investment process. In-depth analysis of the system's
components performance properties and interdependencies with
regard to different hardware architectures (design properties
of CPU/cores, cache, bus, memory, etc. in SPARC vs. x86 archi-
tecture) and software architecture (OS threading implementa-
tion, Java performance acceleration & JVM tuning, event
processing, queuing, channel architecture, etc. in Java EE
middleware components).
Draft alternative solution architectures as proposals for an
architectural re-design to meet and possibly exceed the
client's requirements for significant improvement in system
performance, with particular regard to single-thread per-
formance in ordered processing of CEP JMS event queues.
Analyze requirements of, and draft a solution architecture
for split sites operation during the various phases of
migration of the client's various managed services. Analyze
the system's communication relationships with regard to basic
network infrastructure (IP network) in order to prepare for
the setup of appropriate firewall rules, define performance
and bandwidth requirements, WAN & VLAN interconnection, and
routing strategy in cooperation with the network infra-
structure provider (VR Netze) and telco carriers (Deutsche
Telekom, Colt Telecom).
Working closely with the client's application and system
specialists in order to deliver a complete analysis prepare
and support a smooth migration of the EAI system, its services,
communication interfaces, and communication relationships,
and guarantee continuous operation during the phase of split
sites operation between service providers and eventual seam-
less switch-over to single site operation.
