Working as solution architect for the Audi account,
I’m responsible for architecting , planing and
designing the NAS migrations.
We are migrating data from 36 legacy Netapp
systems in 5 different locations to the new Isilon
and Unity storage environment. The amount of
data is about 10PB with several hundred vfilers
and approximately 150000 shares to be migrated.
The systems are hosting the user home directories,
profiles as well as application data and project
data. Both CIFS and NFS are used in the
environments.
The focus of my work is the analysis of the existing
infrastructure and translating it in a new design
adjusted to the Isilon and Unity hardware and
functionality. Exploring the existing services and
mapping them to the new infrastructure. Designing
the new infrastructure and migration methods to
enable a smooth transition and cut over.
Working as storage architect, I’m responsible for architecting the European Commission’s next generation storage platform. I do the design, implementation planing and migration planing for 4
new 16 node Isilon clusters to replace the existing Netapp infrastructure. The systems are hosting the user home directories, profiles as well as NFS application data and Oracle
EXDP data. The European Commissions document repositories are also hosted on the systems. My focus includes the analysis of the existing infrastructure and translating it in a new design
